The HX35 is a LOT larger than the puny IHI turbo I took off. Along with its additoinal size came a decreased amount of clearance at the strut tower. This is why the wastegate was such a problem. The wastegate actuator (WA) was a pain in the arse! I built and threw away 4 or 5 different 'attempts'. I finally got something that worked nice though From what I've read the HX35 is good to about 450whp on a z31. You can get a holset turbo with a waste gate but if you do end up going with a holset you will need to make a downpipe that connects to the stock exhaust. There was a guy on here making them so it would basically be a bolt on but I don't know if he is making them anymore
The turbo is your standard holset hx35 turbo. No shaft play, and in 9/10 overall shape. The turbo does not smoke or burn oil. The inlet has been tapped for a -4 feedline which can be included for a little extra. I have used this turbo on my stock 2L and saw 20psi by 3500 with the BEP housing Im going to try and squeeze the HX35 in my LHD RB25 swapped 240sx. So far I can tell that will definitely need a spacer somewhere around 3/4 inch and some oil plumbing. the internal wastegate will fit but you need to cut the mounting bracket and bolt it on in another position and shorten the actuator rod. once the mod is done you could. is the actuator seized or the wastegate flapper? unhook the wg rod of the actuator from the wastegate flapper. the flapper should move, if not you can see it from the turbine outlet, soak it and tap it if it's stuck. to test the wastegate actuator, you can put your finger over the hose and pull on the rod, you can feel it create suction. if you have air you can throw some air at it, start.
