I can see both network cards in the device manager they show that the device is working properly. I can also see both network adapters listed in the network connections in control panel. When I run the network diagnostics it says The 'Local Area Connection' adapter is experiencing problems If you do not see any other adapter other than your wireless download this utility and run it. I think the first screenshot is the properties from the VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 at the Windows 7 host, not from the Windows XP guest. I also reinstalled the network and bluetooth network adapters. The problem definitely appears to be the router and not the network or computer itself as I am still able to connect to the router upstairs. Since then, the ipconfig/all reads as follows: C:\Users\ceise>ipconfig/al That did get rid of the extra tunnel adaptors but this Ethernet connection problem is very strange.
